WORKERS’ COMPENSATION : OUR WORK IN ASSISTING INJURED WORKERS

Under the Connecticut Worker’s Compensation Act, an injured worker is entitled to total temporary disability benefits for periods of complete inability to work, temporary partial disability benefits for those time periods when a worker can only fulfill part of his duties, specific indemnity awards for workers who have sustained a permanent partial disability, and pay differential benefits. Doncasters, 263 Conn. 231, (2003); Mount Vernon Fire Insurance Company v. James P. Morris, III, 281 Conn. 544 (2007). Other pending appeals and non published appellate work include prosecuting the following cases: Sicillia v. Safeco, Stanwyck v. Safeco, and Bonnie Nichols v. City of Bridgeport.
CLASS ACTIONS /RESPRESENTING CLASS CLAIMANTS
Newman, Creed & Associates has experience in representing individuals involved in class action matters. The firm handled class members in the Proplast TMJ Implant matter, and in the Prudential Class-Action Securities litigation. Mr. Newman has handled class actions from as early as 1991 and currently the firm has advised hundreds of clients on the Pet Food Product Liability Litigation. With respect to that matter, Bruce E. Newman and Kevin E. Creed were actively involved in attending court hearings, conducting pretrial investigation, and were signatories to the mediation agreement that ultimately led to a $24 million settlement.
